Hey guys! Do you like dungeons? Do you like dragons? Do you like roleplaying hot babes so people will give you gold and attention? Well check out this game then you freak!
You may have seen many videos floating around the net where someone pours a seemingly normal liquid onto a plate and it suddenly freezes and turns into a hardened sculpture.
The problem with most of these and that they only tell you the main ingredient they used which is Sodium Acetate. They don't tell you how to easily obtain your own.
Well, hopefully our our latest episode of Scientific Tuesdays can clear the air on what you do and do not need when it comes to trying this experiment at home.
Watch below:
If you are looking to purchase your own Sodium Acetate, click here.
If you want to try to make "Instant Liquid Sculptures" on your own, you will need to either buy a bunch of Sodium Acetate powder, or you can cut open a Reusable hand Warmer that I have verified to contain a high enough content of Sodium Acetate to make the experiment work.
Here is my list of products that will work and from trusted vendors that will fill the order quickly.

1. EZ Heat Reusable Hand Warmer
This is the one I used in the video. It will work and is shipped fast. You can also find this at some REI stores and some Sports Authority stores, but I would call them first as they don't seem to stock it much.

2. Proheat Reusable Hand Warmer
Though I did not use this one in the video, I have verified it also contains a high potency of Sodium Acetate and works well for the experiments seen in the video.
Hope this helps you all find your own sodium acetate.
I know it's too late for valentines day, but still...
(Insert Evil laugh)
When you mix "Dry Yeast" and "Peroxide" you get quite a nifty little reaction.
You might have heard of this experiment before, it is usually called "Elephant Toothpaste". However, I have added more of the active ingredients to make the trick last about 4 times as long.
Watch the video below for instructions and material list:
A cool idea was to coat paintballs with this stuff. Flashes when they hit, but doesn't burn or produce heat so it's safe to use.
This weeks SCITUES answers the burning question that many of us get each and every night.
"What would happen if I put a Styrofoam cup into a bowl of acetone?"
The answer is quite simple, because styrofoam and acetone are both non-polar substances, they react by dissolving into each other. So saying that the styrofoam is melting is not exactly true as it more or less just dissolves entirely.

Hot off the editing floor is the latest Scientific Tuesday video. Just in time for.... TUESDAY!
A little known fact is that money is actually not made from paper but made from Cotton and silk and some other items. Because of this, we can soak up alcohol and light it on fire without any damage. Have a look!
In this episode of Scientific Tuesdays (read: Wednesday) I am going to show you how to make your own magnetic fluid. Now what is the point of this you may ask? None, really. But it looks awesome and you could potentially make some beautiful art using these methods.
For this to work you are going to need:
