This weeks SCITUES answers the burning question that many of us get each and every night.
"What would happen if I put a Styrofoam cup into a bowl of acetone?"
The answer is quite simple, because styrofoam and acetone are both non-polar substances, they react by dissolving into each other. So saying that the styrofoam is melting is not exactly true as it more or less just dissolves entirely.

Hot off the editing floor is the latest Scientific Tuesday video. Just in time for.... TUESDAY!
A little known fact is that money is actually not made from paper but made from Cotton and silk and some other items. Because of this, we can soak up alcohol and light it on fire without any damage. Have a look!
In this episode of Scientific Tuesdays (read: Wednesday) I am going to show you how to make your own magnetic fluid. Now what is the point of this you may ask? None, really. But it looks awesome and you could potentially make some beautiful art using these methods.
For this to work you are going to need:
Shopping List:
1. MICR Toner (Office Supply Store)
2. Rare Earth Magnet (Hardware store)
3. Vegetable Oil (Grocery Store)
Welcome to the third edition of my "How To Speed Up Your Computer" series. As promised, I'm back in business. It's a pretty simply tutorial once again, but next time I'm going to show you how to do some tricky stuff with your registry. If you're not on a Windows user, I'm sorry that my videos have been only Windows tips. I promise to upload some Linux stuff in later episodes for you computer geeks (I'm running multiple operating systems).
So this time I'm going to walk you through how to run a system cleanup and fragmentation. Your extra files are going to be cleaned up, so they will no longer be slowing your computer down.
STEP ONE
Go to the start menu and follow this path:
All Programs :: Accessories :: System Tools :: Disk Clean Up
STEP TWO
Run the clean up. When it's finished analyzing, click 'OK'.
STEP THREE
Now, go to the start menu again and follow this path:
All Programs :: Accessories :: System Tools :: Disk Fragmenter
STEP FOUR
Select your main disk drive and run the scan.

Just finished up my latest tutorial for the masses. How to build a Spy Clock.
basically, we are using cheap walkie talkies found at target for $8.99 and a cheap digital clock I got for $4.99.
Watch and learn:
Have any ideas of your own for spy devices?
For the latest Household Hacker video, I replied to some viewer email and decided to build an "Upside Down Shelf".
Take a look at the video and tutorial:
If you have any questions or suggestions of your own, make sure you sound off in the comments.
We have put together a brief and hopefully informative video outlining the top 5 Nexus One apps that we loved. Now this is by no means anything but opinion so please let us know what your favorite apps are and if you think our choices suck.
Welcome to the second edition of my "How To Speed Up Your Computer" series. So here's what's up. In addition to all of my other videos, I will post a video to this series 2-4 times a week. Sound good?
In this episode, I walk you through the process of improving your computers performance by tweaking, well; the performance options. Once again, this is a little bit on the elementary side, so for you advanced guys I promise to have something a bit trickier in the coming weeks.
There are two methods for doing this. I'm going to explain method one, but if you have GodMode enabled; you can use the more simple method. See my last video for details on how to activate GodMode.
STEP ONE
Open the start menu. Run a search for "appearance".
STEP TWO
Select "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows"
STEP THREE
Check the box that says "Adjust for best performance"
STEP FOUR
Click OK to save changes.
Your computer should now appear to be running Windows 97. I promise, it will still work just as well as it did before. If you've got 4GB of RAM and up, this shouldn't be necessary. It does make a noticeable difference if you have all the fancy things off however.

A lot of people have problems switching to linux, here's a guide to see if linux is right for you and how to work it if you like it.
First things first, burning the disc.
When you download a linux OS it's going to be a file called an ISO image (.iso). The question is, what the hell do you do with it? To burn an .iso on Windows XP you need a special disc burning software so you can burn the .iso file as an image onto the disc. I used CDBurnerXP to burn my .iso, it's free and it works. Now I'm assuming that you figured out by now that you're going to need a blank CD and a computer that can burn CDs (pretty much any CD burner made past the second half of the last decade should). Now once you have the disc popped in and the file downloaded open CDBurnerXP (or whatever program you're using) then go to burn iso image. It's the simple!
Booting a Live CD.
Assuming your Linux has a Live CD in it (Ubuntu does, openSUSE too if I'm not mistaken) I'm going to want you to boot to it first. To boot to your live CD just restart your computer with your Disc that you burnt in it. Most computers will boot to the CD automatically but if it doesn't then press F12 (or whatever function key it says before "boot" when your computer starts) and select "Boot from CD-Drive/USB". From there you'll get the screen below if you used Ubuntu.

Press enter when the "try w/o changing anything" is highlighted and from there you'll boot from the Disc. From here you can test the system and see if you like it or not, there's going to be an adjustment period though b/c you're changing your whole Operating System. I suggest any beginners to do a Dual-Boot and to look for linux alternatives to any programs that don't offer a linux version (Personally all I use are Firefox Thunderbird Pidgin Skye and Frostwire) and steadily creep over to the Open-Source side.
Setting Up Flash/Java.
Just copy+paste these into the Terminal
$ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
This is a quick guide on saving harddrive space on Windows XP.
Step 1: Go to My Computer, then right click where it says Local Disk (C)->Click Properties
Then click where it says Disk Cleanup

It'll scan for awhile, once it's done check all the boxes and hit OK.
Total Amount of Space Cleaned: Over 20 GB!
Step 2: Download CCleaner
Click Run Cleaner
